Right Hand Rings: Honouring Love, Carrying the Story Forward
For many women, wedding rings are worn every day for decades.
They witness the quiet moments of life — the early years of marriage, family milestones, ordinary days, and extraordinary memories. Over time they become more than jewellery. They become symbols of a shared life.
When a partner passes away, those rings often return to a jewellery box. They are far too meaningful to part with, yet wearing them in the same way can feel difficult.
Sometimes, when the time feels right, those rings can begin again.
Through my heirloom redesign process, a widow’s original engagement ring, wedding band, and her partner’s wedding band can be carefully repurposed into a new right hand ring.
The gold remains the same.
The gemstones remain the same.
The love and history remain the same.
Only the form changes.
The new ring is not meant to replace the original wedding set. Instead, it becomes a symbol of enduring love, remembrance, and the continuation of life.
Many women choose to wear this new ring on their right hand — a quiet way to honour the past while embracing the future.
There is never a timeline for this kind of transformation. For some women it may take years before the moment feels right. When it does, creating a new ring from those cherished pieces can be deeply comforting.
A ring once worn through a lifetime of love can continue its journey — not resting in a drawer, but worn again with meaning.
